Senior WordPress Developer

At Ceart Digital, we’re on the hunt for a sharp, experienced Senior WordPress Developer to help us push the limits of what our affiliate websites can do. You’ll work hand-in-hand with our Tech Lead and Web Dev Manager to build, optimise, and future-proof a portfolio of high-performing WordPress sites in the betting and casino space.

This is more than just building pages — you’ll be tackling complex technical challenges, shaping development standards, and making sure our sites stay fast, scalable, and secure.

What You’ll Be Doing (a.k.a. The Challenge):

• Build, maintain, and supercharge WordPress sites — performance, scalability, and SEO are your holy trinity.
• Develop custom themes and plugins with clean, secure, and maintainable code.
• Smash Core Web Vitals and drive front-end performance that Google (and users) will love.
• Write beautiful code in PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 — and document it like a pro.
• Lead code reviews and help steer our dev squad in the right direction.
• Use Git (and GitHub or similar tools) like second nature.
• Troubleshoot gnarly bugs across staging and production environments.
• Work closely with DevOps to handle CDNs, caching, and hosting setups (Cloudflare, AWS, etc.)
• Integrate third-party tools, APIs, and data sources into our WordPress stack.
• Stay on top of the latest WP updates, trends, and tech — and know when to jump on something new.

What We’re Looking For (a.k.a. You, Hopefully):

• 4+ years of hands-on web development experience, focused on WordPress.
• Deep understanding of WordPress internals — core, REST API, custom themes, plugins, and block development.
• Fluent in PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and MySQL.
• Proven experience in performance tuning and Core Web Vitals optimization.
• Solid knowledge of technical SEO and how it ties into clean code and site architecture.
• Bonus points for experience with CDNs, WordPress caching, and tools like Cloudflare or AWS.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and handling multiple projects at once.
• Comfortable working independently and owning your code from start to finish.
• A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills — we’re all about teamwork.

About the Role

Ceart Digital is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Technical Product Owner to lead the development and optimization of our growing network of WordPress-based affiliate websites in the betting and gaming space. You'll bridge the gap between business goals and technical execution—owning the product roadmap, defining requirements, and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery.

This is a hands-on role where you'll collaborate with developers, designers, SEO specialists, and business stakeholders to turn product vision into tangible results.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the product roadmap and backlog for all WordPress-based websites.
• Translate business needs into detailed user stories, specs, and acceptance criteria.
• Prioritise features and bug fixes based on business value, SEO impact, and user feedback.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external WordPress developers to manage sprints and deliverables.
• Oversee site performance, plugin management, security, and uptime monitoring.
• Ensure websites remain compliant with affiliate advertising standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Continuously analyse UX, SEO, and conversion performance—proposing updates and improvements.

Requirements

• 3+ years experience as a Product Owner, Web Project Manager, or similar role.
• Strong understanding of WordPress CMS (themes, plugins, performance optimisation, security).
• Experience working with cross-functional teams using Agile or Scrum.
• Familiarity with SEO, UX best practices, and affiliate marketing.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and prioritisation skills.
• Knowledge of betting/gaming industry or regulated environments is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with A/B testing tools, Google Analytics, or tag management.
• Basic familiarity with HTML/CSS or front-end debugging.
• Understanding of localisation/multisite architecture.
